So it's been a while since I blogged about any kitchen progress. We finished putting all the coats on the cabinets and we have just been letting the paint dry. We wanted to give it the most amount of time possible to harden and cure before hanging the doors and putting the drawers back. We also wanted to take a break, so we have done nothing else. Today, I put new contact paper inside the drawers and it makes a huge difference, not to mention it is cleaner. The drawers are back in, and we hung the cabinet doors on the new cabinets that we have added since we've been here. We didn't add the cabinets during this reno, they were a previous reno. Anyway, we did not hang the doors on the original cabinets because we haven't put the hinges on. The new doors have a different type of hinge which made hanging them a snap. Yes, that means that they will not have the same hinges as the original cabinets, but we don't care. We have not put the handles on anything yet because they are on back order. They are supposed to ship at the end of the month *yikes* so we will go ahead and put the kitchen back together without them because it's been a disaster long enough. We hope to start adding hinges to the old doors maybe tomorrow, and maybe start hanging them Tuesday or Wednesday? Just for good measure, I added new felt pads to the backs of the drawers and doors to discourage sticking, and to make them quieter when they shut. I also was able to make space in the dining room for the table to move back in, which means that I also got my living room back. YAY! It's really nice to see progress, and see a glimpse of what this will all look like when it's finished, minus the handles of course. It's also nice to be able to use the drawers and get the organization back instead of having boxes stacked all over the counters with drawer stuff in them. Here are a couple of pictures of what things look like tonight. :)

I still have to prime and paint the toe kicks. I forgot to do it when we did the cabinets. :-/ |

We still have to add trim to the sides of this cabinet to cover those little gaps on each side. |

Tonight, I'm feeling relieved and hopeful that this will all be done soon. It's really nice to see things taking shape. The kitchen feels bigger and more open. Maybe that's because there are no doors. :-P I actually think that the doors will make it seem even bigger and more open because the light will bounce instead of being absorbed into the cabinets. Still lots to do, but we're getting there. :)
